Getting Started With ๐
๐ is a Social networking microblogging service where users send and read 280-character messages called tweets. ๐โs strength lies in posting information in real time, and it has emerged as a source for information discovery, with a focus on sharing relevant information and engaging in conversation.
Installing ๐ to your Android Device
- Open Google Play.
- Search for โXโ in the search bar.
- Access the appโs information page.
- Tap on the Install button.
How to create a ๐ account on the web
- Go to http://twitter.com and find the sign up box, or go directly to https://twitter.com/signup.
- Enter your full name, phone number or email address, date of birth, and a password.
- Click Sign up for ๐ .
- In order to verify your phone number, they will send you an SMS text message with a code. You may also request a voice call to verify your phone number. Enter the verification code in the box provided.
- Once youโve clicked Sign up for ๐ , you can select a username.
- Double-check your name, phone number, password, and username.
- Click Create my account.
Common ๐ Terms
If youโre new to Twitter, there are a lot of terms and phrases that may seem a little confusing at first. Reviewing some of the most commonly used terms will give you a better understanding of how Instagram works and what to expect as you get started.
- Tweeting: The act of posting a message to Twitter in 280 characters or less.
- Handle:Your Twitter username is reffered to as a โTwitter Handleโ
- Twitosphere: A community of Twitter users.
- Retweet (RT): A repeated tweet, in which twitterers send a tweet that theyโve received to their followers. An RT is much like a forwarded e-mail. Twitterers can also use RTs when they reply to a particular tweet, allowing their Twitter stream to read the reply. Retweets show someone that you enjoyed their tweets
- hashtag: Tagging an individual tweet by using a hash mark (#) in front of the tag word. For example, #twittermarketing. The hashtag allows Twitter users to search for a particular subject.
- Mention:A way to reference another user by his username in a tweet
- Feed:The stream of tweets you see on your homepage, comprised of updates from people you follow
๐ Mobile App Interface
The Twitter mobile app makes it easy to connect on the go, post tweets, send messages and search for popular stories.This is important because ๐ is all about whatโs happening now.
On the mobile App, at the bottom of the screen you will see a list of different icons running across the screen, this is your Menu.
- Your Home Screen, it is represented by a house icon this is where your Feed is located, here you will be able to see the posts of those you follow as well as view their stories .
- The Discovery function is represented by a magnifying glass, here you will see some of the more trending topics and stories that are on Twitter currently, you may also search by using the search bar at the top of the application.
- The notifications function is represented by a โbellโ icon, it is here that you will be notified as to tweets by persons that you follow, comments on your tweets, and any mentions of you
- The New Tweet function is represented by an icon with a โ+โ in it. Click the icon and the tweet prompt โWhatโs happeningโ will appear. You can type what you want to post, then click โTweetโ. Keep in mind that posts on ๐ are limited to 280 characters. The counter will tell you how many characters you have left as you type..
