This module provided you with a practical hands-on experience with the three most popular social media applications. As you can see, the structure and functionalities are very similar with differences mainly in the appearance of the applications and how they name their components. For example what Facebook calls a Post is referred to as a Tweet in 𝕏 .
Here are some of the key points learned about each of these social medial applications:
Facebook is a social networking site where you can create profiles, upload photos and videos, send messages and keep in touch with family, friends and colleagues. You’ll share information about yourself and provide regular status updates on your timeline. You add people that you know as Friends, and follow the stream of updates from your friends and any Facebook Pages that you like on your Newsfeed.
Instagram is a mobile networking service whose primary function is the sharing of photos and videos. You scroll through your feed or watch interesting posts from people that you follow, and like or comment on those you find interesting, or post a few stories and videos of your own for your followers. Filters can give your photos a unique or artistic look, and Storie are Photos and videos that are only available for 24 hours after they’re posted.
𝕏
𝕏 ’s strength lies in posting information in real-time, so many persons and organizations use it for providing continuous updates on events or activities. 𝕏 ’s distinctive concepts are, Tweeting: The act of posting a message in 280 characters or less, Retweets: A repeated tweet, that shows someone that you liked their tweets; and hashtag: tagging an individual tweet using a hash mark (#) to categorize related tweets.
